Worzel and friends to take over Drewton's Farm Shop

Published: 15/08/2012

Anyone who pays a visit to Drewton's Farm Shop near South Cave during the August bank holiday weekend (Saturday 25 to Monday 27) won't believe their eyes – the shop, the courtyard and even the car park will be full of scarecrows!

Katie Taylor, proprietor of Drewton's, is challenging staff and customers to get creative and make their own unique scarecrow for the occasion. Anyone can get involved by making a scarecrow, and then taking it along to the farm shop in the week leading up to the event and registering their details with staff.

The entries will go on display on the Saturday morning and customers who visit during the course of the weekend will be invited to pick their favourite. Whoever creates the best scarecrow will receive an 'Afternoon Tea Party fit for Aunt Sally' for up to six people.

Katie said: "Your scarecrow can be anyone or anything with a face! Someone famous perhaps? Or maybe an animal or a cartoon character? You could even create a scarecrow that looks just like you! We hope that people will join in the fun and help us to produce a fine display of scarecrows."

Anyone who wants to take part is asked to make sure they register their scarecrow with staff in the Farm Shop when they drop it off. Entrants are also asked to collect their scarecrows once the weekend's festivities are over.
