Unique opportunity for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts to enjoy access to country estate

Published: 07/01/2015

Drewton’s Farm Shop is giving those with a passion for nature and photography a unique opportunity to spend time getting up close to the wildlife on the picturesque Drewton Estate near South Cave.

Katie Taylor, who owns the farm shop, has organised a Wildlife Photography course made up of four day-long workshops, which will take place throughout the year to enable participants to see and photograph the estate in winter, spring, summer and autumn.

The course will be hosted by Yorkshire Coast Nature, award-winning wildlife photographer Steve Race and the Drewton Estate’s Woodland Manager, Seth Crosswaite, who will each provide expert guidance to those taking part.

Katie explained: “We held similar workshops last year and they proved very popular. Although there are public footpaths across the estate, this course provides those with a love of nature and an interest in photography with a unique opportunity to access areas of the estate that are off the beaten track. As well as picking up photography tips from Steve Race, they’ll also be shown some of the estate’s flora and fauna by Seth, who knows it better than anyone, and the team from Yorkshire Coast Nature.”

The first workshop is planned for 25 January and the others will take place on

19 April, 19 July and 18 October. Each of the four sessions includes an introductory talk with bacon sandwiches and a choice of tea or coffee; a delicious buffet lunch at the estate’s Shooting Lodge; access to private areas of the estate; and the unique opportunity to photograph nature. The four-day course is priced at £195. A limited number of places are available. Telephone 01430 425079 for details.
