Hockney puts East Yorkshire under the spotlight

Published: 13/03/2012

Renowned artist David Hockney has put the region firmly under the spotlight as much of the work featured in his current landscape exhibition for the Royal Academy of Arts depicts his favourite views of the East Yorkshire countryside.

The Drewton Estate is located just off the Wolds Way, a popular walking route that cuts through some of the picturesque countryside that Hockney painted for his 'A Bigger Picture' exhibition. This means that our two five-star, self-catering cottages on the Drewton Estate are a great base for visitors keen to explore Hockney country for themselves.

Katie Taylor, proprietor of Drewton's, said: "All of the publicity surrounding the Hockney exhibition has really helped to put this part of Yorkshire on the map, and is attracting extra visitors to the area.

"It's great news for tourism in the region, particularly those who offer accommodation, as we do here at Drewton's."
