Family fun at Drewton’s Farm Shop to celebrate Yorkshire Day

Published: 08/07/2015

Drewton’s Farm Shop has joined forces with Bridge McFarland Solicitors to organise a fun-filled family party to celebrate Yorkshire Day and raise funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The event will take place on Yorkshire Day – Saturday 1 August – at Drewton’s Farm Shop near South Cave and will be sponsored by Bridge McFarland Solicitors, which has offices in Hull, as well as Lincolnshire and London. Taking place between 2pm and 5pm, it promises to be heaps of fun for all the family. Attractions will include a children’s entertainer; a Punch and Judy show; a bran tub; apple-bobbing; hook-a-duck; a variety of garden games, including Jenga, skittles and kite-flying; and live musical entertainment from a swing/jazz band.

There will be a barbecue buffet from 2.30pm, showcasing a wealth of delicious produce sourced from the vast network of Yorkshire-based farmers and growers who supply Drewton’s Farm Shop. There will also be a Pimms bar and ice creams. The dress code is ‘Yorkshire’ and there will be prizes for the best-dressed.

There will also be a Yorkshire-themed baking competition for children and young people under 16 years of age. Entries will be judged in four age groups – under six years, six to ten years, ten to 12 years, and 13 to 16 years. The winner of each category will receive a trophy. All entries must arrive at Drewton’s Farm Shop by 1pm on the day. A £1 entry fee applies, but the proceeds will be donated towards the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Judging will take place between 1pm and 2pm.

Katie Taylor, proprietor of Drewton’s Farm Shop, said: “We always stage an event to mark Yorkshire Day as, here at Drewton’s Farm Shop, we’re proud ambassadors of the county and its wonderful food and drink producers. This year, we’re delighted to be working with the lovely team at Bridge McFarland Solicitors, who have kindly agreed to provide sponsorship to help us put on a Yorkshire-themed family fun day and, at the same time, raise money for a very good cause; the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.”

Leanne Keating, managing partner of the Hull branch of Bridge McFarland Solicitors, said: “The Yorkshire Air Ambulance provides an amazing service to the region and we’re delighted to join forces with such a highly recognised Yorkshire food retailer as Drewton’s Farm Shop to help raise money for the charity and create a fun day for people wanting the celebrate in true Yorkshire style.”

A limited number of tickets are available, priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children (under 12 years). To book or for more information, visit the farm shop or telephone 01430 425079. All of the proceeds from the event will go towards the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which provides a dedicated helicopter emergency service for the Yorkshire and the Humber region and is a registered charity.
