Drewton's wins 'Taste of Yorkshire' award at regional tourism 'Oscars'

Published: 02/10/2012

The team at Drewton's Farm Shop, near South Cave, received the best possible Birthday present last night – a 'Taste of Yorkshire' award at the White Rose Awards 2012!

Drewton's beat off fierce competition to win the prestigious accolade at the annual awards ceremony, which is organised by regional tourism body Welcome to Yorkshire. The award was recognition for its commitment to championing the finest Yorkshire food and drink, which is sourced from a network of more than 200 growers, suppliers and producers across the county.

Katie Taylor, who owns and runs Drewton's Farm Shop, said: "The timing couldn't have been better; the business is two years old next week and this award reflects just how far we've come. It was always my dream to open a farm shop selling the finest local, seasonal produce. I think it's fair to say that we've achieved that goal as we're now well known for being at the forefront of the 'eat local' movement and for our commitment to supporting Yorkshire-based food and drink producers. To win such a prestigious, regional award is a marvellous second Birthday present and a wonderful reward for the hard work of the entire team, as well as the many farmers, growers and food producers who supply us with their fantastic food and drink."

The White Rose Awards recognise the very best of the region's tourism offering and the ceremony was held at Leeds United Football Club. Drewton's Farm Shop was one of six shortlisted finalists in the Taste of Yorkshire category.
