Drewton's pie high!

Drewton's is delighted to announce it has won a Silver Award in the prestigious "England's Best Steak Pie Competition 2011", sponsored by EBLEX.


Judges of the National Pie Competition announced their decision after a week of deliberation, on Tuesday (May 10).


Our resident pastry chef Katharine Brown (who missed out on winning a Gold Award by one point) is already kept busy baking her signature pies for a long list of regular customers. But, since announcing the Silver Medal Award on Facebook and Twitter, the Farm Shop phone has been ringing off the hook.


"I am so proud to get this award", said Kath. "I am making hundreds of pies a week to keep up with demand in the farm shop and we only opened six months ago! Since the Prize was mentioned on the web I have been taking orders non-stop."


Kath's pies are made with beef from the Drewton Estate, prepared by our resident Drewton's butcher, so she is confident the meat she is using is top quality.


"I only use good cuts and I'm always generous with the meat. My handmade pastry is a light golden short crust. But that's all I'm giving away – the rest is top secret..."
