Drewton's featured in Yorkshire Life

Published: 12/10/2012

The village of Elloughton is just a short drive away with good independent shops including florist Serendipity and award-winning Drewton’s Farm Shop which specialises in local produce. Owner Katie Taylor (known as ‘Clipboard Katie’ for her skills at organising charity events), is the inspiration behind the business. She moved to the area from Harrogate six years ago and opened Drewton’s in October 2010. It’s just a 10 minute drive from Brough, along the A1034 and has become popular with tourists as well as local residents.

‘We’re lucky to be based in such a beautiful part of East Yorkshire, there’s a really strong sense of community and we’re proud to be at the heart of that. The villages are beautiful with old red brick buildings, farms and local pubs.’

The shop is on the Drewton Estate, once the site of an old Roman settlement known as ‘Druids Town’ and is a working estate set in 1,200 acres of arable land. The estate is a magnet for ornithologists and walkers, well known too for its pheasant and partridge shoot which attracts visitors from all over the world.
