Diners to ‘Tweet’ to online followers from event at Drewton’s Farm Shop

Published: 28/01/2013

Tens of thousands of Twitter users are expected to follow diners at an 'Eat and Tweet' event taking place at Drewton's Farm Shop this Saturday evening (2 February).

Drewton's will host a local group known as the 'online critics' circle', which is made up of guests drawn from East Yorkshire's business, arts and media communities. Members of the circle will attend the first of two 'Come Dine With Me Drewton's-style' events planned for February, where they will be served a six-course meal made using the finest Yorkshire food and drink. In a unique twist, they'll be joined by the food producers who have supplied the ingredients and will be able to chat to them over dinner to find out more about where and how they're produced.

The 'Twitterati' attending the event will 'Tweet' throughout their dining experience, and interact with their thousands of 'followers'.

Katie Taylor of Drewton's said: "We know that many of our customers are interested in finding out more about how and where their food is produced, so we thought that enabling them to meet and dine with the local food and drink producers who have supplied the ingredients for their meal would be an interesting take on the 'Come Dine With Me' theme. When when we heard about the 'Eat & Tweet' concept, we thought it would be great to have members of the online critics' circle here too so that they can help us spread the word about the wealth of fantastic food and drink producers that we have here in Yorkshire to the Twitter community."

Eat & Tweet event organiser Dave Lee explains: "We find that everyone enjoys the evening and gets something from it. The restaurant enjoys unique, online promotion, the tweeters at home get to see and hear about a restaurant they may not know about, and the diners, obviously, have a fantastic night out."

Tweeters can follow the evening and see photographs of the meal by using the hashtag #EatAndTweet.
