Christmas comes early for four Yorkshire charities

Published: 01/12/2014

Four Yorkshire-based charities will receive an early Christmas gift this week, when the proceeds of the annual Harvest Festival Concert organised by Drewton’s Farm Shop is shared between them.

Beverley Minster, the newly-established East Riding Theatre, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and The Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Unit at Castle Hill Hospital are the chosen good causes. The concert, which was held in October and featured a wide variety of talented performers, raised a total of £2,484.00, which will be shared equally between the four charities.

Bridge McFarland Solicitors, which has offices in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and London, generously provided sponsorship to help Drewton’s Farm Shop cover the costs of staging the event. Funds were raised through ticket sales and a ‘Tree of Life’ raffle, which featured a host of quality prizes generously donated by Drewton’s Farm Shop and other local businesses.

Katie Taylor, proprietor of Drewton’s Farm Shop, said: “This was the second year running that we’ve held a Harvest Festival Concert at Beverley Minster and, once again, it was very well supported. I’d like to thank everyone who helped make it possible, including our talented performers, everyone who donated prizes and all those who came along on the night to show their support. I’d especially likely to thank the team at Bridge McFarland for providing sponsorship, without which the event quite simply wouldn’t have been able to go ahead. Your support has helped us achieve this fantastic outcome for four extremely deserving Yorkshire charities.”

Leanne Keating, Managing Partner at Bridge McFarland’s Hull branch, said: "They are all such deserving charities and it’s so nice to know that it will make a difference to people’s lives at this time of year. We were so pleased to be able to sponsor the event and would like to say congratulations to the team at Drewton's and Beverley Minster, who worked so hard to organise a fantastic event."
