Katie Taylor MBE opened Drewton’s in October 2010, sensitively converting old farm buildings on The Drewton Estate, located on the edge of the Wolds Way.  Since reading 'A Woman of Substance' by Barbara Taylor Bradford (a fellow Yorkshire lady!) at a young age, Katie was determined to run her own little empire. With a flair for organising charity events and interior design, she was fondly known as 'Clipboard Katie'. Mixed with her passion for food and entertaining, it seemed the right combination to make a break from the family's textile businesses and leave those 'dark satanic mills' of West Yorkshire for the open fields of the Wolds to create a new life for herself and her children, doing what she does best.

Encouraging others to enjoy the experience of the Estate, Drewton’s also has two beautifully furnished holiday cottages nestled within the grounds, enjoying use of the tennis court and numerous footpaths and bridleways where you can enjoy the rolling hills with grazing cattle and wild flowers.  The sighting of the odd deer and resident red kite add to the endless beauty we are proud to share.

Private dining and special occasions have become immensely popular over the years and so The Manor Rooms was born in May 2019, offering an exclusive wedding and events venue with stunning views across the Estate.

We aim to minimise the impact of our business activities on the environment, and since 2004, the Taylor family has maintained and restored various buildings, lakes and walls, and installed biomass boilers and solar panels. This forms part of our ongoing renewable energy programme.

We are one of the top five per cent of employers in the country, employing over 25 people (95 per cent of businesses employ under 25 people), and currently provide jobs for 45 local people.

Drewton's has also helped and supported countless local charities and community groups, including educating young children on the importance of field to fork and eating fresh produce.

OUR FOOD HEROES

Since opening in October 2010, and having spent some time developing our Yorkshire links, we are absolutely thrilled to share our colourful map and some statistics with you...

Drewton's sources food and drink products from around 250 Yorkshire-based farmers, growers, producers and suppliers, offering a wide choice of products in the farm shop and a whole host of seasonal dishes on the menus, across both Kitchen and The Manor Rooms.  The business supports a further 200 other professional companies in the region, which provide us with everything from design and marketing to suppliers for The Manor Rooms, including entertainers, florists, photographers and room stylists.
